Obi-Wan Kenobi is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He is a Jedi Knight who first appeared in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" as the apprentice of Qui-Gon Jinn. After Qui-Gon's death, Obi-Wan takes Anakin Skywalker as his own apprentice, and trains him in the ways of the Jedi. However, as Anakin falls to the dark side and becomes Darth Vader, Obi-Wan engages him in a legendary lightsaber battle on the planet Mustafar, ultimately defeating him. Later, Obi-Wan goes into hiding on Tatooine, where he watches over Luke Skywalker, Anakin's son, until the time comes to train him in the ways of the Jedi. Obi-Wan is known for his wisdom, compassion, and skill in combat, and is one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars franchise.
